Palawan Tourism Council President Rey Felix Rafols emphasized the importance of domestic tourism in boosting Palawan's economy, encouraging Filipinos to explore the province’s unique beauty rather than traveling abroad. “By doing so, they support local businesses, communities, and sustainable initiatives,” he said during a press briefing.

Palawan’s tourism is thriving, with Provincial Tourism Officer Maribel Buñi reporting an 87.47% increase in arrivals in 2023, totaling 1,527,159 visitors, up from 814,621 in 2022. Of these, 873,592 were domestic tourists, highlighting their vital role in the province's growth.

 

 

REVENUE AND TOURISM SUCCESS

Palawan’s tourism revenue surged to ₱57.2 billion in 2023, up from ₱30.5 billion in 2022, with El Nido, Coron, San Vicente, Brooke’s Point, and Linapacan among the top destinations. International tourists predominantly came from the United States, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Spain.

Despite the success, Provincial Tourism Officer Maribel Buñi urged the industry to remain proactive. “To sustain this growth, we must continually innovate to meet evolving traveler demands and prioritize sustainability,” she emphasized.
