Century Tuna, the country’s leading tuna brand, marked the third year of its Saving Our Seas campaign with its biggest environmental drive yet. In 2025, the initiative grew to six coastal sites nationwide, pushing forward the brand’s long-term commitment to marine conservation and plastic recycling.

The campaign began gaining traction earlier this year during brand ambassador Park Seo Joon’s fan meet, where supporters donated plastic bottles to help fund cleanup activities. From there, the effort expanded nationwide, bringing together communities and volunteers in a shared mission to protect Philippine seas.

What started as a single cleanup in Batangas in 2023 has now evolved into a nationwide effort. This year, more than 8,200 volunteers joined coastal cleanups in Manila, Batangas, Subic, Davao, Zamboanga, and General Santos City—a major leap from just 205 participants last year. Volunteers included local government units, diver groups, the Philippine Marine Corps, Century Tuna Superbods, and Century Pacific employees.

Carlo Endaya, Vice President and General Manager of Century Pacific’s Branded Tuna Division, said the campaign is rooted in the company’s deep connection to the sea. He explained that “our product comes from the ocean, and without healthy waters, we have nothing.” Endaya added that the goal goes beyond a one-day cleanup: “Through programs like Aling Tindera, every piece of plastic collected can become a source of livelihood instead of ending up in the sea.”

The campaign is aiming for a 33% increase in plastic collection this year, made possible through partnerships with HOPE’s Aling Tindera, local government agencies, and brands such as Shakey’s, Vita Coco, Beach Hut, and Peri-Peri. Caroline Beloso, Field Coordinator for Friends of HOPE in Batangas, noted that Century Tuna’s continued support has made a real difference for coastal communities, helping local families earn income while reducing marine waste.

These combined efforts resulted in the collection of 1,386 kilograms of plastic waste, a big jump from last year’s 357 kilograms.

In just three years, the Saving Our Seas campaign has gathered over 100 metric tons of waste and expanded from one cleanup site to six. Ray Guinoo, Assistant Vice President and Marketing Director for Century Tuna Local Operations, said this milestone shows how the movement has grown beyond simple cleanup activities to one that fosters community, livelihood, and long-term change.

Launched in 2023, Saving Our Seas continues to raise awareness on marine pollution through cleanup drives and environmental education programs in schools.
